How to create HPGL plot files with AutoCAD
2000
The following steps assume that the user has a drawing on
screen in AutoCAD, and the driver intended to be used has been
installed.To create a plot
file using the HP DesignJet 750C Optimized System Print Driver:
- Zoom the drawing to
Extents
- Go to the File pull down menu and
select Plot, or type PLOT at the command line
NOTE: If the "Plot" dialog box does
not appear on the screen, type FILEDIA at the command line, and
change the value to 1
- When the Plot dialog box opens,
go to the Plot Device tab if not already there
- Select the HP DesignJet 750C
Optimized System Print Driver
- Click on the Properties button
for the driver to bring up the Plotter Configuration Editor
- Select the Device and Document
Setting tab
- Under the Graphics section,
select True Type As Graphics
- Select the Custom Properties
section and click on the Custom Properties button
- Under the Paper Size tab, select
the More sizes button. Here you can select whatever standard sizes
you want to be available to you later on. When you are finished
click OK to return to the custom properties dialog
- Select the Options tab and make
sure Color as grayscale is selected, then click OK to return to the
Plotter Configuration Editor
- Click on Save As button to save
your changes to a pc3 file. In the future you will want to select
this pc3 file in step 4 of these instructions
- Click OK to close the Plotter
Configuration Editor. Notice that the driver listed in the drop
down menu is now the pc3 file you just saved
- Now choose the Plot Style Table
you want to use and click on Edit if you want to set or change line
weights, screening, etc... (refer to your ACAD 2000 Users Guide for
information about Style Tables)
- Under What to Plot select Current
Tab
- Select Plot to File and specify a
file name and location for your plot file
- Now go to the Plot Settings
tab
- Under Plot Area select
Extents
- Then set the paper size,
orientation, and scale appropriate for your drawing
- Now click on full or partial
preview to verify that your settings are correct.
Press OK or the
escape key to return to the Plot dialog box Click on ok and AutoCAD will create the plot file
